In response to public support, though, New Jersey had legalized sports betting inside its borders in 2012 and had been fighting in court ever since. Finally, despite losses at every lower court, the Garden State managed to gain an audience with the US Supreme Court. After hearing arguments in late 2017, the Court rendered a 6-3 verdict in favor of New Jersey and struck down PASPA as a violation of the Tenth Amendment.
